JobTestPrep provides you with the material you need to prepare thoroughly for your hiring process. The package includes various numerical, verbal, and logical reasoning tests as well as interview preparation, and other practice materials. Our Barclays Analyst preparation package allows you to familiarise yourself with the types of assessment you must pass to become an analyst.

Barclays Analyst Assessment Tests

As part of Barclays' application process, you are asked to complete at least one aptitude test. Barclays utilises CEB SHL numerical, verbal and logical reasoning tests, as well as a personality test. JobTestPrep provides you with CEB SHL-style mock tests and more tools to help you pass this part of the application process.

SHL Numerical Reasoning Test

As an analyst, you need to demonstrate advanced mathematical skills to complete the Barclays numerical test. You are expected to read and analyse numerical data provided in tables and graphs. You should also be comfortable using a calculator.

SHL Verbal Reasoning Test

Barclays' verbal reasoning test requires you to analyse and to interpret passages as well to demonstrate your command of the language. By understanding and utilising the given information efficiently you should answer the questions that follow the passages.

SHL Logical Reasoning Test

This assessment is designed to examine your abstract reasoning skills. To pass this test you will have to rely on your logical skills to be able to draw a connection between the shapes you are shown. By identifying the logical pattern you should determine either the next shape in the sequence or a missing diagram.

Personality Tests

The purpose of this test is to ensure your personality matches Barclays' profile. The company selects different attributes as desirable and undesirable to create their ideal profile for the analyst vacancy. The test usually focuses on three main categories: decision-making abilities, communication skills, and professional attitude.

Situational Judgement Test (SJT)

You may also be asked to complete a situational judgement test. This assessment examines your behavioral and cognitive abilities to see how you would handle situations as a Barclays analyst. You are presented with scenarios and you should select the appropriate answers to the questions. Similar to the personality test, this will also target your problem-solving, decision making and customer service skills.

Barclays Application Process

Barclays' recruitment process consists of three stages. First, you submit your CV online and fill out the questionnaire. You should tailor your CV to your desired position. For example, if you want to become a Barclays investment banking analyst or a Barclays corporate banking analyst you should adjust your CV accordingly by including position-relevant keywords. Then, you are either asked to complete a Barclays numerical test, verbal test, and personality test or you are invited to a telephone interview. Upon successful completion of one or all of these elements, you attend an on-site interview.

The Barclays Application Form

As the first stage of Barclays' recruitment process, you have to fill out an online questionnaire about your education, professional experience, and list all extracurricular activities you have participated in. You can also add more information by selecting this option from a series of drop-down menus. Then, you should write 300 words to answer a competency-based question. Make sure your answer comprises Barclays' core values such as respect, integrity, service, excellence, and stewardship. You should describe experiences in which you have shown these core values. If you succeed you will be asked to complete Barclays' assessment tests.

Barclays Analyst Interview

During your recruitment process, you have to attend an interview at least twice and sometimes three times.

Phone Interview

After you submit your CV, you may be asked to participate in a telephone interview. This can last up to thirty minutes. The interviewer aims to have a more in-depth understanding of your experience and technical skills. It is also a chance for you to ask questions that underline your genuine interest in the role.

Competency-based Interview

If you pass Barclays' aptitude tests, the next step is the on-site interview. The purpose of this assessment is for you to demonstrate your motivation and relevance for the analyst position. The questions offer you the chance to elaborate on your experience in which you displayed one or more of Barclays' core values. Make sure to address when, why and how you applied these qualities. This interview may incorporate other forms of assessments including role-plays, case studies, and presentations. You are informed beforehand which skills will be assessed.

Practical Interview

This interview allows you to elaborate on your CV and you should also be prepared to solve mathematical questions and brain teasers. This type of interview is usually employed in the final stage of the hiring process, in the assessment centre. The interviewer's purpose is to evaluate if you suit the role and the team.

Interview Practice for You

As part of the Barclays Analyst preparation package, you will receive JobTestPrep's interview preparation. Assessment Centre

In Barclays' assessment centre, you are required to take a numerical test, to participate in a group exercise, to create a presentation, and to complete an interview. The assessment centre lasts minimum half a day and maximum two days.

Numerical Verification Test

Although you have already taken a numerical aptitude test by this stage, you may need to complete a 35-minute CEB SHL numerical test once more to confirm your initial results. It is crucial you revisit your preparation process for this assessment as most candidates report it to be more difficult than the initial assessment.

Group Exercise

In the group exercise, you must demonstrate your abilities to work within a team. You are presented with a brief that you should solve as a team. Make sure you display clear communication manners and prove to be an essential asset to your team's work.

Presentation

This section requires you to show your presentation skills by engaging your audience both visually and verbally and interacting with them. Therefore, even if you are not the presenter, it is important you show your participation by asking insightful questions in the fifteen-minute session for questions.

Interview

As part of Barclays' assessment centre day, you should participate in at least one interview. You should prepare for two types of interviews: the practical interview and the competency-based interview. For more information about the types of interviews please refer to the interview paragraph above.
